It is very simple to import securities into Web Appraise through its Excel Import function. All you need to do is format the Excel spreadsheet, populate it with your assets, and upload.

1.) Formatting the Excel Spreadsheet

The Excel Import function expects two columns. It is recommended that both columns be formatted to "Text" type. This prevents Excel from making assumptions about the values and preserves the input.

2.) Populating the Excel Spreadsheet

Column A should contain security identifiers/assets and Column B should contain shares. No header row should be present.

3.) Upload

Once the Excel spreadsheet has been formatted and the security identifiers with their shares have been added, its time to upload. In a new report, fill out the necessary portfolio information of "Valuation Date", "Valuation Type", and "Estate/Portfolio Name". Click on the "Upload" button and select your Excel Spreadsheet.

This will validate the imported security identifiers and populate the portfolio with them, including descriptions for valid identifiers.
